Capability

Verified Capture

Verified Capture is an in-development Proofence capability designed to verify capture context and provenance signals before media or evidence enters a downstream decision workflow. Its findings are intended to join the same explainable, auditable trust decision as every other Proofence check.

In development: capture-time verification for media and evidence workflows.

Many workflows accept a photo, scan, recording or document as evidence, and the decision that follows is only as sound as the assumption that the media is what it claims to be. Verified Capture is being developed to move that check to the point of entry: to verify capture context and provenance signals before the media reaches a downstream decision, rather than question them after they have already shaped one.

The capability is designed to examine the signals available when media is captured or submitted: the capture context a workflow records, timestamps and location where they are provided, embedded provenance metadata such as content credentials when present, and whether what arrived matches what the workflow expected. Missing, stripped or contradictory signals are intended to be recorded as findings rather than dropped, so that an absence of provenance is itself visible to the decision.

Findings are designed to flow through the Proofence Engine into the same trust decision as everything else. The intent is for them to feed trust scoring, policy orchestration and human review, and to combine with Multimodal Verification of the content itself, so that a workflow could approve media with strong provenance, warn on gaps, route ambiguous items to a reviewer, or block where its policy requires verified capture.

Verified Capture is intended to produce signals, not absolute verdicts on authenticity. It is not a forensic certification, it does not guarantee that manipulated or AI-generated media will be detected, and it does not determine legal admissibility. Its aim is to give the people and systems that rely on captured evidence a documented, reviewable basis for deciding how far to trust it.

What it delivers

  • Designed for the point of entry

Capture context and provenance are intended to be verified before media reaches a downstream decision, not reconstructed afterwards.

  • Gaps made visible

Missing, stripped or inconsistent provenance is designed to be recorded as a finding, so an absence of evidence is weighed rather than ignored.

  • One trust decision

Capture findings are designed to feed the same scoring, policy and review path as every other Proofence check.

  • Clear boundaries

Signals are meant to support a decision. They are not a forensic certification or a guarantee that manipulated media is caught.

Bring verifiable trust to every AI decision.
